What this is
Off-page helps you:- Outreach: contact authors of third-party editorial content where competitors earned mentions.
- Engage: participate in social/community pages (e.g., Reddit, LinkedIn) that influence citations and recommendations.
Why it matters
- Many AI answers cite third-party sources (not your website).
- Off-page mentions increase trust and citation eligibility.
- Engage helps shape narratives where models pull community sentiment.
Where to find it
Action → Off-pageHow it works
-
Meridian identifies external pages where:
- Competitors are cited/mentioned
- You are missing
- It prioritizes targets with a citations signal.
- Off-page lists are refreshed on a schedule (refresh timer).
How to use it
- Choose Outreach or Engage.
- Use Filters to focus on relevant topics/categories.
- Update Status as you work (Todo → In Progress → Done).
-
For Outreach:
- Open the article
- Identify the author/editor
- Request inclusion with a crisp, source-backed pitch
-
For Engage:
- Open the social page/thread
- Add helpful, factual contributions (not spam)
- Link to citeable resources when appropriate
How to interpret results
- If citations are high for a domain → it’s already a trusted source → prioritize outreach there.
- If many targets are “Todo” → you have an authority gap → schedule weekly outreach/engagement sprints.
- If you get included but Citation Rate doesn’t move → you might be targeting sources AI doesn’t cite for your prompts → cross-check Citations tab.
- If Engage targets are mostly Reddit → community narratives strongly influence your category → invest in credible participation.
- If Off-page is strong but rank still lags → your owned pages may be structurally weak → fix Website Pages issues.
Common questions / troubleshooting
- “Why can’t I find the author contact?” → use site contact pages, LinkedIn, or editorial guidelines pages.
- “Why does a site show up that I can’t influence?” → deprioritize; focus on adjacent sites AI cites too.
- “Why does Engage look like Outreach?” → same workflow, different target type (social pages vs editorial articles).
